The Impossible Astronaut - 10 Teasers

As for ever episode Digital Spy have released their 10 teasers for the opening episode for Doctor Who 6, The Impossible Astronaut.

1. The rumours are true - one of the lead characters really does die. It's not a trick. And it happens within the first ten minutes.

2. When we first see the Doctor, he's in a… compromising position.

3. For Amy and Rory, it's been a while since the events of A Christmas Carol. And for The Doctor? Possibly even longer.

4. The Doctor gets slapped, again.

5. "The legs, the nose and Mrs. Robinson."

6. Amy reveals a shocking secret, but is keeping another from The Doctor.

7. The Doctor drinks wine, and isn't a fan.

8. "River, make it blue again!"

9. One character makes a Star Trek reference. Several times.

10. "You will tell the Doctor what he **** ****, and what he **** ***** ****."

Matt Smith's Mini US Diary

Wednesday 16 November 2010, Valley of the Gods, Utah
I arrive later than Karen and Arthur [Darvill], because I had to go on Craig Ferguson's Late Late Show in LA. He's such a huge fan. He was so welcoming. I think it's the most fun I've ever had on a chat show.

Everyone in LA tells me there's nothing here in Utah. It's pitch black, so I can't see. I just feel the long road lull as we wind through endless American desert. Utah has to wait till morning.

And boom - from my motel, I look out and see the red-coloured desert, and I'm in awe. It's majestic. I go get pancakes. Karen is on the make-up wagon. "Oh my God, oh my God, it's amaaazzzing," she buzzes. I agree.

As the day winds on and we bemoan our jetlag, I'm excited about this afternoon. Karen is being chased by a helicopter, and we have big black stately cars kicking up the dusty desert in a chase. This is where Forrest Gump stopped running, where Indiana Jones found the Temple of Doom, and now where the Doctor faces his darkest hour.

But for now - I'm sprawled on the bonnet of the coolest car [a bright red 1959 Edsel Villager Station Wagon], wearing a Stetson. Yeah, the Doctor wears a Stetson now. Stetsons are totally cool.

It was my idea to lie on the car, by the way. The script said the Doctor was leaning against it, but the Doctor is always leaning, it's such a Doctor thing to do, so I thought, "A car this cool? I have to lie on it!" To my surprise, they didn't say no.

4 DAYS TO GO

Only 4 days to go till the premier of Doctor Who so I've posted something which I just noticed right now

In Sarah Jane Adventures series 1 The Lost Boy Part One the Pharos Institute was filmed the same place as Doctor Who series 1 episode 4 and 5 with the Slitheen and thats also a connection to the episodes because the episodes both feature the slitheen.

Because inside the Pharos Institute is the same place as where the Slitheen dressed up as the mayor of London was talking to a man who got turned into a Slitheen and he kept on farting.

Doctor Who Team Talk About the Silence

Steven Moffat talks about the Silence and what he thinks about them and where they got their idea from to create them.

"If I’d seen them when I watched TV as a boy, I’d have had to peep through my fingers. They are going to become as iconic as the Doctor’s most enduring foes, the Daleks, and even more dangerous and harder to exterminate. . . .

"They are pretty repulsive, but it’s their history that will really chill people. They could turn up anywhere and everywhere, and they’ve been undermining and controlling us for thousands of years but we don’t realise it."

But how has this effect been so effectively executed?

Their look has been carefully created for maximum scare-factor, with dark suits, white shirts and black ties made by Doctor Who costume designer Barbara Kidd. The suits, in particular, are a nod to the Men In Black movies, which starred Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones as smartly attired U.S. Government agents fighting alien invaders.

The Silence’s hands and heads — created by Neill Gorton, principal designer at Millennium Effects, the company which make all the Doctor Who monsters — are the only features that
betray the fact they are aliens. Made from Latex foam, the hands are bony-white and crumpled, while the triangular faces have no mouths, but human eyes sunk deep into the skull with traces of ears and a nose.

Steven Moffat said that he thinks the history of the silence will make people more involved.

"Humans will have been subconsciously aware of The Silence for many centuries, and that awareness will have manifested itself in paintings such as The Scream."

There was also asked how to you make such simple creatures be feared by everyone so much?
"Doctor Who has the ability to play upon people’s fears, often carried from childhood. What made that sound under the bed, that shadow at the back of a cupboard, that sound on the floorboards at night?"

The Doctor is locked in the perfect prison while Amy, Rory and River Song are being hunted down across America by the FBI, as the time-travelling adventure series continues.

With the help of new friend and FBI-insider Canton Everett Delaware the Third, our heroes are reunited to share their discoveries, if not their memories. The world is occupied by an alien force that controls humanity through post-hypnotic suggestion, and no one can be trusted.

Aided by President Nixon and Neil Armstrong's foot, the Doctor must mount a revolution to drive out the enemy and rescue the missing little girl. No one knows why they took her. Or why they have kidnapped Amy Pond...

WAR OF THE GERMANS

Moffat Previews Series 6

Steven Moffat talked to Radio Times and told us a few things about what to expect this series, so check them out bellow.

On Series 6 overall:

The Silence, the unseen enemy who blew up his TARDIS last year, have laid deeper plans and set the deadliest trap of all – one that has been ticking away in the Doctor’s life for longer than anyone knows.
Newlyweds Amy and Rory are caught up in a century-spanning scheme, and somewhere out there, in a storm-lashed prison, River Song is getting ready to tell the Doctor something that will change his life for ever.
By Lake Silencio, on the Plain of Sighs, a story will begin and end. A good man is going to die, an impossible life will begin, and our heroes will set out on the long road to the deadliest secret in the universe – and when it stares you in the face, you might just discover you’ve known about it all along.

On The Doctor’s Wife:

“Fear me – I’ve killed hundreds of Time Lords,” “Fear me – I’ve killed all of them.” Remember those lines from the trailer? Well this is [the episode] they come from.

On The Rebel Flesh and The Almost People:

“[A story about] an alien shape-changer and an industrial dispute. It’s The Thing meets Made In Dagenham.”

On A Good Man Goes to War:

“Want to find the most dangerous place in the universe? Easy. Harm a hair on Amy’s head and just wait. But as the last of the Time Lords and the Lone Centurion blaze across galaxies to save the woman in both their lives, history is unfolding. In her cell, in Stormcage, River Song knows the time has come at last. She has a secret and this is the day she tells it. The battle of Demons Run has begun and the Doctor’s darkest hour is now.”
